Overview: Swami Yogasagar has created a new concept in Teacher Training for students who want to become yoga teachers. SYIT is a unique course that will be of interest to any student who has an interest in taking their own personal yoga practice to the next level. It is open to any student from any school of yoga regardless of your experience in the techniques of yoga. The new SYIT course will provide the training essential for any student to qualify first as a yoga instructor and later as a fully fledge yoga teacher.

Aim: The course is designed for students who want to perfect their own personal practice and it also offers professional training standards in two levels of qualification for students who want to teach yoga in the style of the satyananda yoga tradition. The aim of the course is to train teachers that will be able to inspire and motivate students who are interested in the holistic approach to yoga. Swami Yogasagar will only accept students who are committed and dedicated.

Yoga Instructors (YIC): The first part of the course is available in four seperate modules and will train the student as a competent yoga instructor. Students can qualify in each level and begin teaching within 3 months. You can choose to complete the sucessive module whenever you want to just as long as you have completed the previous levels. You can gain teaching experience of each level while studying the next module.

Brief: The first module of the YIC will provided an in depth study of the essential basics of yoga practice and the techniques applicable to beginners. Each of the remaining modules will introduce progressive levels of pratice and teaching. Once all modules are completed the trainee can apply for thier finasl assesment and certification as a yoga instructor.

  • Module One: Beginners (Preparation of joints, basic asana, simple pranayama and Yoga Nidra.
  • Module Two: Progressive (Study of Hatha Yoga, basic pranayama and building a class program.
  • Module Three: Intermediate (A study of the classical asanas, pranayama and meditation)
  • Module Four: Accomplished (A study of the Bandhas and principles of advanced yoga practice)

Yoga Acharya (Yoga Darshan): The second part of the course is optional and can be studied at any time once the teacher trainee has been certified as a yoga instructor and has 6 months teaching experience with this school. Yoga Dharshan is an advanced study of the philosophy and theory of yoga. Students will be required to give talks on the subjects covered and write a contemporary thesis on the overall aims and purpose of yoga with a summary of how this is achieved.

Qualifications: Students who complete the YIC will have the opportunity to sit for exams and qualify as a certified yoga instructor. This qualification enables the student to teach the techniques of yoga only. A diploma as a yoga acharya is issued only to students who have completed both the YIC and the Yoga Darshan course. The diploma qualification recognizes the student as a fully qualified teacher who can deliver lectures and advise students on the deeper aspects of yoga philosophy.
